A kit worthy of champions thanks to Artisan
HIGH flying Ruthin Hockey Club have a kit worthy of champions, thanks to sponsorship from a local business.
The ladies team beat Swansea to win the Welsh Shield in a one-sided 4-0 final recently and were runners up to Cardiff in their first Welsh Cup final, losing just 1-0 against the home side in the Welsh Capital.
Thanks to sponsorship money from Denbigh-based Artisan Conservatories, Windows and Doors, Ruthin Hockey Club were able to go to the finals in a brand new kit.
It replaced the team’s previous kit which they had used for five seasons.
Now they are hoping that their new uniform will bring them more luck as they vie for the top spot in the North Wales League.
Linda Harris, of the Hockey Club said: “Both results in Cardiff were very good for us. We’re a small club so to reach the Welsh Cup final was great and to win the Shield against Swansea, a much bigger club was even better.
“We are very grateful for Artisan’s sponsorship. Being a ladies team, we often find it hard to get sponsorship which is why we’d had our previous kit for five years, so we really do appreciate their generosity.”
Denbigh-based Artisan, which like Ruthin Hockey Club is now in its 21st year, is a family business with customers across North Wales, the Wirral and Cheshire.
Ian Gibson, of Artisan said: “We were very pleased to be able to sponsor Ruthin Hockey Club and it’s great to see a local club being so successful. Long may that success continue.”
